As part of his commitment to helping others, Mike volunteers his services to anyone who is struggling to make ends meet and does not qualify for energy assistance.  He was inspired by his volunteer and professional work with the Catholic Charities & United Way in Michigan, and the 411, Stone Soup & Community Action Agencies in Indiana.  He now serves as a member of the NAMI of St Joseph County board.  Mike adds, “I have adopted Juday Creek for the DNR and maintain it from 933 to SR 23, where I have my sign.  Realtors and neighborhood associations call me to speak at their meetings, and I have taught at LMC.  I just think we owe it to each other to help wherever we can.”

 

The EPA states on their web site that most homes in the U.S. can reduce their energy bills significantly by using Energy Auditor services, and professional weatherization companies.  For example, box sills where the foundation meets the structure are main areas of focus, as are the tops of walls, and the use of instruments to measure efficiencies in air-sealing and thermal boundaries.  Water heater technology has come a long way and changes are in the offing.  Weatherization services incorporate experience, communications, and technology.  That and a desire to serve make Grass Roots Technology a one-of-a kind operation.
